The Butterfly is the second playable entity that can be achieved in EvoWorld.io. Players with an account that is Level 1 or higher can spawn as the Butterfly. It was added on 10 April 2018.

Appearance[]

It has orange wings with yellow outlines. It also has three amber dots on both wings (Which contain some brown lines), a tan-like body and the default eyes (However, they are very small and are partially hidden when it flies).

Food & Predators[]

The EXP values listed below assume the player has no Bonus Codes or other boosters. If the player does have one, multiply the value shown by the EXP bonus (as a decimal, not a percent) to find how much XP will be gained.

The asterisk (*) means that the entity will only get a fraction of the Butterfly's XP

DESCRIPTION: You become invisible to predators when you sit on a flower

Strategy & Tips[]

As a Butterfly[]

  • There isn't much strategy to the Butterfly. Its food is entirely stationary, plentiful and invincible, so one can go and sit on the top of it until the next stage, provided no predator comes your way.
  • Much like the Fly and the Mosquito, it is particularly vulnerable to Dragonflies. Avoid them as much as possible!
    • Be careful around Wasps. They also eat flowers, but their next evolution is the Dragonfly, so don't be surprised by a sudden evolution when one is right next to you!
  • If you are sitting on a bunch of Flowers, it is great to move through the Flowers to gain more EXP (Move back and forth), so that you will not be bound by the time to gain more EXP. If you move to another Flower between intervals when you gain EXP, you'll actually get EXP from both Flowers at the same time.
  • Stay on top of the Flowers, as it is easy to get cornered under them.
  • You have the ability to turn invisible if you land on a flower. It doesn't mean, however, that you can't be killed if a predator happens to hit you. Be careful because you will turn into a Mosquito and the Butterfly's predators are also the Mosquito's and might eat you!
  • When escaping from predators, there are some things to note:
    • 1: Evolve quickly, as your ability doesn't make you invincible, and you have a hitbox big enough to get grabbed by a Dragonfly and get killed by a bird easily.
      • 1.5: Evolving helps you escape a Wasp almost becoming a Dragonfly, as you have less EXP required to level up (50EXP) than them, and you get more EXP from Flowers than them.
    • 2: Have some luck and skill to not get hit by a scythe or by a bird using the Swoop ability.
    • 3: Do not go under flowers as you will be trapped there.
    • 4: Do NOT bother running away from reapers due to your low EXP reward.

As a predator of the Butterfly[]

  • The fact that its food is stationary can lead to easier kills, especially if many Butterflies are competing for one flower, restricting their movement greatly.
  • Butterflies also have larger hitboxes than other prey (If you are a bird), which will make them easier to kill.
  • Keep in mind that its ability makes it invisible, but NOT invincible. if you can't see one, but know one is on a Flower, swoop/charge on the Flower.
  • Using the Swoop ability can help you kill a Butterfly faster. This works especially well if the Butterfly is under the flower.
  • Butterflies under a flower are easier to kill than the ones on top, so prioritize them.
  • If you cannot tell whether or not there is a Butterfly on the flower, try using the Swoop ability (Which also comes in handy due to the Swoop taking out most of the Butterfly's health), making it easy to kill in two hits.

Trivia[]

  • It is the first animal that can eat only one type of food in the game.
  • This animal tends to be one of the best for pushing other entities and players outside the Server Barrier, as it does not have many large predators and possesses a small hitbox. Also, due to this hitbox, it's one of the most difficult animals to get outside the Server Barrier by pushing.
  • It is the only animal that can turn invisible.
  • It is one of the smallest animals.
    • It may seem big, but it has a 1x1 hitbox.
  • This animal cannot collide with Reapers.
  • In real life, caterpillars pass through a series of events (Involving metamorphosis) to "transform" themselves into a Butterfly.
  • Also in real life, Butterflies pollinate flowers. Some species of insects like the Wasp get trapped trying to get the pollen, only for the flower to take nutrients from the Wasp.
    • In-game Hornets may be aware of this, as they don't eat Flowers like the Wasp.
