Food Chain Status[]

The EXP values listed below assume the player has no Bonus Codes or other boosters. If the player does have one, multiply the value shown by the EXP bonus (as a decimal, not a percent) to find how much XP will be gained.

NOTE: '*' means that both animals can eat and hurt each other and '%' means that the entity will only get a fraction of the Dragon's EXP.

Strategies & Tips[]

As a Dragon[]

  • Given a narrow range of non-playable food, a wide selection of player-controlled prey and the Fireball ability, it is best to target player-controlled preys in the map.
  • Do not spam the fireballs, as missing one means you'll have to wait a long time for the next one, and people are not likely to just fly into one.
    • Spamming fireballs will also alert reapers of your location since only the dragon can create fireballs.
    • Spamming fireballs will also alert prey of your location, making it harder to find prey.
  • Use fireballs when chasing prey to force them to dodge it. Also use it to drain their health.
  • You can go underground, but it is not advisable due to the possibility of being ambushed. However, in some narrower systems, you can almost be safe from any attack (since all your predators are far bigger than you), just be careful of the Black Widow and other big monsters.
  • If you find a Phoenix in the Arctic biome, try to team up with it and head to the Ice Castle. There, the Phoenix can eat the Yeti, so it does not harm you, while you eat the Meat and the Penguins at the back of the lair. Repeating this process will likely result in a relatively quickly evolution for both of you, unless a Demonic Imp, another Phoenix, or meat-eating animals are eating your sustenances (in the latter case, both of you can scare it and kill it / leave it go to another place).
    • If prey happens to wander into there, try to block all entrances while one of you sets the prey on fire.
  • If you want to eat a Mammoth, set it on fire with your ability. It will be killed easily. If you try to deal contact damage to it, the Mammoth will likely win due to its higher damage.
  • You could try teaming with Demonic Imps and Phoenixes since all focus on fire damage. A common strategy is to have one set prey on fire, sending them to the water. When the animal flees the water, the first animal's ability will be on cooldown, so you can have the second set them on fire. Keep in mind that only one player will get the XP though. Teaming is also generally frowned upon by other players.
    • You could also team with a reaper, giving him easy prey while he protects you from other reapers. Be mindful that the reaper could easily turn on you and kill you though.
  • A useful strategy is to stay near water, set prey on fire then go under them and push them up whenever they try to go in the water. This is a useful strategy for any animal that can inflict a damaging effect on players.
  • To effectively use your ability, do not randomly fire it at fleeing prey. Due to the fireball's slow speed, the prey will most likely escape before it hits them. Instead, land on them. When the prey flies up to escape, wait until it is at your mouth, then use the fireball. At point-blank range, it is almost impossible to dodge the fireball. This trick takes some practice.

As a prey of the Dragon[]

  • The most obvious problem is the Fireballs. Try moving up and down to dodge the Fireballs, as they never go upwards or downwards.
  • Do not attempt to go to Space, as gravity is different and there is no water in Space because the fireballs are much easier to hit you, therefore you will have a higher chance to get killed.
  • The Dragon's fireballs don't take effect in water, so stay close to oceans or small bodies of water in order to extinguish the fire from fireballs, specifically in the Oceans, there are clouds near them and those are helpful to hide in too. (Keep in mind you lose less water in Clouds [only if you have a premium account] but poison, fire, and infections are not suppressed.)
  • Be careful about the enlarged hitbox of the dragon when in water because it can land on top of you and trap you.

As a predator of the Dragon[]

  • Chase them as usual. Their Fireballs do not harm you anyway.
    • Their hitbox is slightly bigger such that they cannot fit in some cave entrances and escape.
    • However, yours is far bigger than theirs, which means that the Dragon can use some shorter (in height) conducts in the underground or space to escape.
    • As a Cosmic Bat, you deal very little damage to it, but if you manage to trap one, you will guarantee almost or immediate evolution, seeing they are your best source of XP.

Trivia[]

  • Despite the fact it uses a fire-based ability, it cannot drink lava unlike the Demonic Imp and the Phoenix.
  • It is one of the three animals besides the Demonic Imp and the Phoenix that can set fire on another player.
  • Surprisingly, the fire damage set by the Dragon is 2% lower than by the Demonic Imp and the Phoenix.
  • It is one of the biggest animals.
  • The Dragon is one of the few animals in EvoWorld.io that also appears in Mope.io, a similar .io game.
  • While the assets for a majority of the animals for this game are designed by RobertBrooks, the Dragon in particular is designed by another user named mikailain, who strangely designs the same way as RobertBrooks.
