Strategies & Tips[]
As a Grim Reaper[]
- HALLELUJAH!!! Congratulations. You did it. You achieved the ultimate animal stage in EvoWorld.io, after what may probably be a full hour of grinding or more. You have ascended into a harbinger of doom, the ultimate power, whose prey list is made up of absolutely every single living entity on the list. Enjoy the moment while it lasts.
- Your only source of XP is player-controlled animals, which give 20% of the prey's current XP, so the Grim Reaper is a mostly offensive animal - don't waste too much of your time trying to kill the previously unkillable NPCs (the only exception being the Demonic Angel, which will give you 1 million XP, but it can kill you too).
- Despite this immense power, you aren't completely invincible. You still have to watch your water levels and go replenish from time to time (if you are in the Demonic Angel's lair then quench your thirst in the Fire of Death) - don't let the power trip get to you. Opposing Ghostly Reapers, Pumpkin Ghosts, and Grim Reapers (and even the Demonic Angel) may also challenge you in a one-on-one fight, which requires an increasing level of skill to actually come out victorious, since they can chop you (but you can chop them back). When fighting another reaper, try to damage other animals to heal up when you are not targeting the opposing reaper or be on the top of it.
- A glitch you can do if you decide to disconnect is to find the Lava Biome's eastern cave, fly into space, and slam into the bottom of the cave. You could glitch through trapping you in an area with no water, so you will die.
- If you want to get onto the highscores board, try to kill the Demonic Angel. Killing it awards you 1 million XP, but this is hard to do, and it only respawns every full hour (1:00, 2:00, 3:00...). Luckily, you can go AFK sitting in the Fire (assuming another reaper doesn't kill you). Of course, you can also try to kill other players as well, but unless your opponent has several million XP points, this is not even close to the amount of XP that killing the Demonic Angel awards you. You can AFK in one corner of the Demonic Angel's lair so reapers won't find you.
- Do not kill insects, they will give almost nothing (0-130 EXP) and it will take up your time. Try going for big animals that give tons of EXP like a Dragon or a Cosmic Big Eye.
Against the Grim Reaper[]
- Run. Run as quickly as you can. If you're higher on the food chain, you're even more at risk as you yield more XP and the Grim Reaper might actually be the only predator on your list (along with other Reapers)
- If you are a swimming animal (Duck, Pelican or Seagull), try to get into 1 of the 2 oceans (Either the Arctic or the Tropical) as you hold your oxygen better and are far faster than them in water. Beware of Sharks, though. If you are a cosmic animal, escape into space since you can move naturally and hold oxygen better.
- If you have the Speed Up ability (Falcon/Eagle/Hawk/Pumpkin), use it. The temporary burst of speed will work even better in Space, use this to lose the predator.
- As the only dangers for the Grim Reaper are having its water/oxygen levels depleted or facing another Reaper (or the Demonic Angel or going into lava or toxic water), it can lead to a nearly endless chase until one's water level runs out, or until coming across another reaper. And even then, you're at risk, as taking a dip in the water means losing precious time trying to escape the Grim Reaper as it catches up to you. And if it manages to do so, you can go and kiss your animal goodbye unless you're really lucky or skilled. If you encounter another reaper, hope they 1v1 each other and not team up on you.
- But don't worry too much, there is a way to escape easily. First off, beware of other animals as they might eat you (even though the Grim Reaper can eat every player controlled entity [except ghosts]). Second, refrain from running in a straight direction unless the Grim Reaper is far. Try to get the Grim Reaper off guard by leading it into the Castle underground or other places where you know the Reaper can't fit in and may give up (it's better if you also have a water source in that place), or into another animal (but be careful if it can eat you).
- Run into a cloud, a bush, or an igloo (the latter is only in enclosed spaces) until their patience wears out (be careful if it is hiding too). Beware of your water bar and make a dash for it as soon as they leave.
- Note: The hitbox of a scythe is the area in front of and below the reaper (which means that the Pumpkin Ghost has slightly more range than the Grim Reaper). If you sit exactly on top of it, you'll be ok. This can be used to trap the reaper in the mud or lava leaving it with no defense. If you're in a 1v1, try to get on top of the reaper so that it can't attack you back (be careful if you hit space).
- If you encounter a wandering Grim Reaper, stay away from them, and if you're in front of them, you're dead. However, in some situations, where it happens is them flying the same time as you, leading to them chopping you constantly to death.
Premium Version[]
This section is about a feature that is only given to the Premium Accounts. |
The Grim Reaper also has a different sprite when using a Premium Account. The Premium version, unlike the normal one, has a cyan hood with green splotches and a white one on the top of the hood and cute eyes which identifies whenever the player is playing with a normal account or a Premium Account.

The Ultimate Lesson[]
The end of your playtime is ultimately a moral and physical choice - do you feel like grinding for XP still for hours upon hours trying to kill everything you can despite the growing fatigue? If your mother calls you to help her do something, what will you do to solve the dilemma? It's still recommended remembering that real life exists, and that any EXP accumulated is saved to your account (if you have one) even if you disconnect mid-game, thus none of your progress will ever be lost. It's nice to take breaks, from time to time, because while you have unlimited lives and retries in this game, you have only one life in real life, so don't ruin it over a time-waster like this one too much. Take good care of yourself, you're far more important than an .io game!

Trivia[]
- It's the second animal to ever gain a skin, being preceded by the Fly with its Christmas skin, and it's the animal with the most skins in EvoWorld.io (46), with Pumpkin Ghost (12) at second most.
- Although the Grim Reaper's prey list says it can eat all living creatures, it cannot eat the Ghost (it is immortal), but if you think about it, the Ghost isn't even alive. People in real life believe Ghosts are souls of dead people.
- The Bony Reaper skin is a reference to a fictional living skeleton, Sans.
- Although the Grim Reaper is the highest level animal, it does not deal the most damage in all scenarios. It takes three hits to kill entities or players, while some other animals can kill certain entities in two hits (or one). Abilities other animals have can further amplify damage.
- From the 8 May 2018 update to the 16 May 2018 update, it was the only apex predator, replacing the Cosmic Bat (which in turn replaced the Hawk). At the 16 May 2018 update, the Ghostly Reaper and the Pumpkin Ghost were introduced, making them apexes, too (due to eating the same things a Grim Reaper can eat and other Ghostly Reapers/Pumpkin Ghosts/Grim Reapers).
- This also means that the Grim Reaper was the solo reaper between those days, even though the Ghost and the Pumpkin were added the same day as the Grim Reaper.
- Unlike its Ghostly and Pumpkin predecessors, it can kill animals in just three hits, while the Ghostly Reaper and the Pumpkin Ghost require four hits to kill.
- The Pumpkin Ghost can still kill a Grim Reaper if it lands the first hit, due to its bigger attack range.
- This animal cannot collide with the first 5 playable animals (Fly, Butterfly, Mosquito, Wasp, and Dragonfly).
