Food chain status[]
- The EXP values listed below assume the player has no Bonus Codes or other boosters. If the player does have one, multiply the value shown by the EXP bonus (as a decimal, not a percent) to find how much XP will be gained.
Prey[]

Strategies & Tips[]
As a Hawk[]
- Essentially a higher tier Eagle. The added ability to eat Turkeys, Pelicans, and Blackbirds is neat, you don't have to worry about Mad Bats anymore, and being able to eat Pigs allow for the Hawk to have more XP sources.
- Your non-player food source that gives you the most XP are Penguins, so try to eat those without Eagles, Snowy Owls, other Hawks, Ravens, Mad Bats, Pterodactyls (above this animal you should run), Dragons, Phoenixes, Cosmic Bats or reapers plucking them out of your grip. There is a lot to protect your prize from, so be careful!
- Turkeys are great sources of food, often giving 1000 XP or more (depending on your XP boosts). Blackbirds and Seagulls also give the most XP to you out of everything you can eat, so go for them if you see them.
- Ambushing Pelicans when they're underwater used to be an acceptable strategy, but now they gained a much increased underwater time and swim speed, it's no longer viable anymore - the same applies to the Seagull and the Duck. Turkeys and Blackbirds are still a good way to get XP, though.
- You can still try to trap Pelicans, Seagulls and Ducks in shallow waters.
- Otherwise, what applied to the Eagle still applies to the Hawk - you just have more food sources.
- You can also eat the Meat all the way to the Pterodactyl Child, if you can get past the Yeti (or just go to the Jungle biome, it stores more meat and is more open than the Ice Castle so it's easier to flee from a predator, but then you need to add the Pterodactyl and in a lesser degree the Swamp Monster and Cosmic Bat as possible threats, and you may expose yourself to the Pumpkin Ghost and Grim Reaper, albeit those are pretty rare in this biome). Just keep in mind that your water level will decrease and Demonic Imps and Phoenixes who can eat the Yeti (and the Black Widow) can eat you as well, and sometimes their previous evolutions (who can eat you too) may roam this place (Demonic Bat coming from the lava biome or a recently evolved Dragon interested on the Meat), and very rarely, a Reaper that entered through the roof (it can be done, although if reapers are common in the arctic then they tend to be wary, in case another Reaper blocks their only way of escaping).
- You can also farm Penguins and Meat in the Ice Cave, but be careful of the Mammoths as they deal very much damage to you. Be also careful of the Dragons, Phoenixes (interested on the Penguins and Mammoths) and Demonic Imps (interested on the Giant Rat).
As the prey of a Hawk[]
- You are especially at risk if you are a Stork or a Bat, as your areas of preference will also be usually where the Hawk will try to seek its prey, so stay alert to one's presence! As a Bat, you can take advantage of your underground visibility to escape the Hawk more easily, or use the Black Widow's caves to slow them down.
- As a Pelican or a Seagull, pay mind to any approaching Hawks which might sit on top of you while you're underwater and deal tremendous amounts of damage. You're their best source of XP. However, this only applies if you are in shallow water - as a Pelican or Seagull attacked in the ocean, it's nearly impossible to die due to your higher oxygen reserves. Still, be careful, as sometimes a few Hawks will use their ability to get a temporarily boost of speed underwater that can surprise and kill already injured prey.
As the predator of a Hawk[]
- The same applies for the Hawk as the Eagle, except Mad Bats can't eat it.
- Try trapping one underground or underwater, a Hawk in the open can escape using their ability.
- Only try to trap a Hawk in space if an island is near and the Hawk has used its ability - in space a fast turn means the Hawk can get pretty far away from you. Use the island blocks to trap the Hawk, forcing it to face you in order to escape.

Trivia[]
- It was previously known as the Brown Falcon before April 13, 2018.
- In the beta version of the game, this was the apex predator (highest tier) for 3 straight days. On the third, the Cosmic Bat was added, becoming the apex one.
