Egg-ability

Laying Egg

TYPE:
Passive

DESCRIPTION: You lay Eggs on the ground (this can be on any block except ones in liquids). You get 50 XP points for every Egg laid (isn't boosted by XP bonuses).

COOLDOWN TIME: 6 seconds

Strategy & Tips[]

As a Hen[]

  • Start laying Eggs to get a decent amount of EXP at first. This will be done passively each time you lay on the ground and your ability is ready. You won't be able to touch them, though.
    • If there are no predators, you can sit in one spot and gain free EXP, be aware of approaching predators though.
    • You can hide in a Bush or go to an uncrowded area and stay in one spot while laying Eggs. Keep them there secretly and when you evolve into a Red Bird, you will be able to eat the Eggs you laid.
  • You can also try to go after Worms or Bread since they give more EXP, but there's also more competition and you don't have the ability to instantly eat them like the Pigeon can.
  • You may use your Eggs to bribe/convince other predators not to eat you. Predators will often go after the Eggs since they're a free meal rather than you. Don't do this to a reaper, though. Although the EXP gained by killing you is rather small, they don't eat Eggs, so if they go for you, run!
    • With that being said, it may be helpful to remember which animals can eat Eggs so you know which ones you can use Eggs as a distraction against.
  • Your small size allows you to get practically anywhere in the underground or the caves, but don't get too cocky, you are still blind below the surface.
  • The Hen is vulnerable to the Wasp, like the Pigeon and the Blue Bird, so it is advised to avoid trees and flowers.
  • Be especially careful when you are around a Demonic Imp or a Phoenix, as they can eat you but they can't eat the Eggs.
  • When escaping from predators, there are some things to note:
    • 1: Same notes as Blue Bird, except with no Swoop.
      • 1.5: Do not eat acorns. They have a low EXP reward.
    • 2: You have the same hitbox of a Pigeon. However, you may evolve accidentally due to your ability. Don't go to a narrow (1 block) vertical passage if your EXP is high/there's a food that will let you evolve instantly.
    • 3: Know which animals can and can't eat eggs. Use your ability to bribe some of your predators.

As a predator of the Hen[]

  • Use their ability to your advantage. If you can eat the Eggs, it may be worth keeping the Hen alive so you can eat more of them. Even if you can't eat the Eggs, you can at least follow the trail (Hens are forced to lay Eggs each time they lay on any surface, every 6 seconds) if the Hen you are hunting doesn't fly for long periods. Just take into account that if the trail is too long, the Hen may have already evolved.
  • Its small size may make it difficult for you to attack them, especially if you are a Reaper, so avoid letting them get into the narrower caves you can't enter. However, if you are an animal with better vision in the underground, it may be profitable to force them underground where you have an advantage. Hens may also accidentally evolve into Parrots due to their ability, restricting their movement further.

Trivia[]

  • It's the first animal capable of gaining experience through creation and not by eating/killing something that already exists.
  • The Hen can also fit through the small area that contains the Fire of Death, so there are now five animals that can fit, the Fly, the Blue Bird, the Pigeon, the Cosmic Insect, and the Hen.
  • It's currently the newest playable animal added into the game.
  • It is one of the smallest animals.
  • The Hen is one of few animals in EvoWorld.io that also appears in Mope.io (called Chicken in mope.io), a similar game.
