Mosquito

The Mosquito is the third playable entity in EvoWorld.io, and can be spawned with an account that is Level 2 or higher. It was added on 10 April 2018.

Appearance[]

The Mosquito has a tan body. On its back, it has two wings, a black spike and brown lines. On its front, it has two normal eyes, two eyebrows and a curved mouth.

Food & Predators[]

The EXP values listed below assume the player has no Bonus Codes or other boosters. If the player does have one, multiply the value shown by the EXP bonus (as a decimal, not a percent) to find how much XP will be gained.

Prey[]

The Mosquito does not inflict damage to its prey, but rather, gains XP by touching them.

DESCRIPTION: If a predator (player only) bites you, you have 20% chance that the predator will be infected. If the predator is infected then every second he loses 1% health. The only way to disinfect yourself is to drink water.

Strategy & Tips[]

As a Mosquito[]

Just a repeat of the Butterfly, except that one of its food sources is now mobile. Both foods are likely to be cleared out by predators such as Hawks though.
Much like the Butterfly before it, it is particularly vulnerable to Dragonflies. However, the Dragonfly is vulnerable to Pigs, so seek them out to give yourself a safety blanket!
- Also, unlike the Fly and the Butterfly, evolving saves you from the Dragonfly.
  - Additionally, the Mosquito can (but is very unlikely to if the foe isn't low on health) scare a Dragonfly with its ability.
Your ability has a chance to infect predators. The only way to get rid of this infection is to drink water (Like poison or fire). You can use this to discourage predators who are chasing you. However, the damage of the infection is minimal, so the predator probably won't even care about it (unless they're low on HP or nowhere near water).
The Pigs always bounce, so it is more difficult to gain EXP from the Pig. However, you can ride on the Pig to gain EXP faster, or fly under it and carry it into the sky (If you are good enough to do either of them).
Avoid Red Birds at all costs! Mosquitoes are the most rewarding food for them, so if one spots you, you will end up in a long chase. Red Birds (as well as Blackbirds and Maroon Birds) are not vulnerable to Pigs, so don't rely on them to save yourself.
- However, animals like the Mad Bat (which can eat pigs and the birds) can save you.
When escaping from predators, there are some things to note:
- 1: Do not stay near Dragonflies or Red Birds, who will target you given your higher EXP reward compared to their other prey.
  - 1.5: Only the Dragonfly is vulnerable to Pigs, so do not stick near the pigs if you aren't chased by a Dragonfly, or are being chased by a Dragonfly AND a Red Bird/Blackbird at the same time.
- 2: Much like the Dragonfly to the Pigs, lure a Maroon Bird or Red Bird to either a Dragonfly / Pigeon or be lucky enough to find a Hornet. As with the Blackbird, you need to lure it to a Hawk. You can also lure a Dragonfly to a Maroon Bird (be cautious, you may be eaten by one if the Maroon Bird succeeds or the Dragonfly escapes, however, you can search for a Hornet as said before) or a Turkey (Also beware, your evolution, the Wasp, can also get eaten by Turkeys).

As a predator of the Mosquito[]

Competing Mosquitoes can be taken advantage of by landing on top of them and inflicting serious damage.
If a Mosquito is sitting on a cat, use the Swoop ability if your animal has it. The Mosquito will have to react very quickly to escape. If you're a Red Bird, beware of your predators that also eat Cats or Pigs, such as Pterodactyls.
Be careful, as you can be infected by them. If you are running low on HP, do not attempt to hunt a Mosquito.
- You can stay near Water to remove the infection quickly.
Beware, as some Mosquitoes tend to lure their predators to your predators.
As a Reaper, do NOT bother to hunt Mosquitoes due to their low EXP reward.
The Blackbird and the Maroon Bird get the most EXP from Mosquitoes. However, this does not mean that you should target this animal. The same applies to other predators in relation to prey. A Red Bird and a Dragonfly, however, should target this, given it's their best EXP source.

It is officially the only animal that defends itself by hurting other players (If we exclude the poisonous ability of the Swamp Monster and the burn ability of the Demonic Imp when they attack each other), and is also the first animal to do so.
It is the first animal that depletes a player's HP with its ability and one of seven that can (Wasp, Hornet, Swamp Monster, Demonic Imp, Dragon, and Phoenix).
It is one of the smallest animals.
- However, it is the only one that can infect an animal. If poison is also a type of infection, it is one of four (Wasp, Hornet, Swamp Monster).
This animal cannot collide with Reapers.
