Tiles as shown in an easter egg in the top left of the map. This easter egg no longer exists.

Tiles are a game element in EvoWorld.io. They refer to construction materials in the game, of a hitbox size of 1x1, that can be different in different Biomes. They serve as obstacles allowing concealment of prey or the trapping of players, as well as decorative items.

Since they have a standard size, they can also be used as a unit of measurement.

Types of Tiles[]

Dirt[]

It is the standard underground tile. Some of these tiles have rocks in them.

Grass[]

It is the grassland's surface tile. During the holiday event, it transforms into a snowy grass tile. This change is purely aesthetic.

It is found in the Sewage Treatment Plant and is only about half as tall as other tiles.

Measurement[]

Tiles can be used as a means of measuring the size of certain objects in EvoWorld.io. The size of one tile is 1 by 1 and that same measurement can be used for other objects as well.

The most important measurement that can be made is the hitbox size of certain animals. To put simply, a hitbox is the area in which an animal (or any other entity) can hit other objects. If it hits prey, it'll damage or eat it, and if it hits a predator, it'll take damage. Some animals have different sized hit boxes than other animals, which can affect how they play and the range of some of their abilities (such as the Scythe). Measuring hitbox size in tiles is useful because it determines how small of a gap the animal is able to fit through. This is most important when navigating through buildings or underground.

Hitbox Sizes of Animals[]

Note: The first number shows the horizontal hitbox and the second number shows the vertical hitbox. All numbers are in the unit of tiles. Please notice that in some animals the size is approximate and rounded up (such as the Grim Reaper and Pumpkin Ghost having a 2 by 2).

Strategies[]

Advantages to a smaller hitbox

  • It is harder for predators to hit you.
  • You can access more places (like underground).

Advantages to a larger hitbox

  • It is easier to trap prey.

Advantages to a straight (long) hitbox

  • When you fly around, there is a larger chance for a random prey to bump on you.

Disadvantages to a smaller hitbox

  • It is harder to hit prey.

Disadvantages to a larger hitbox

  • It is easier for a predator to hit you.
  • It will be harder for you to access certain places (like underground).

Trivia[]

  • Some tiles form easter eggs, such as the person by the top left Black Hole. And the lava below the Demonic biome's cave forming the word "HELLO :)" with a frog in the middle.
    • The person cannot be seen anymore, since that has been remade into the Evo Taxi's interior.
    • The "HELLO :)" has been moved to the Secret Room, and the out-of-reach Frog has been deleted.
  • The Pterodactyl currently has the largest hitbox of all playable entities - the biggest of all entities may be that of the Giant Rat or the Demonic Angel.
  • Sometimes, the game will glitch out sending you into the ground. It is possible to become trapped due to this. This usually only occurs when there are many animals in an area trying to get by each other, although you will probably get glitched back out by an anti-stuck mechanic.
